Production Yield Method Guide
Use this guide to understand how to prepare and interpret the Production Yield and Loss Planner without duplicating its calculation or turning a result into a benchmark or diagnosis.
Understand the owner method
The owner compares recorded saleable output with recorded input on one common unit and one production-run boundary. This guide explains the method but does not execute PRODUCTION-YIELD-LOSS-V1 or restate a worked fixture.

Understand the input record
Recorded input is the quantity associated with the reviewed process boundary. It is not automatically purchased, issued, theoretical formulation, or warehouse quantity. Preserve source and timing.

Understand saleable output
Saleable output reflects the operator-defined included status. Held, quarantined, sampled, destroyed, reworked, transferred, unfinished, or late-posted output requires explicit treatment.

Keep one common unit
Do not silently compare pounds with cases, wet with dry, gross with net, or ingredient with finished-unit bases. Preserve any documented conversion and its source outside this guide.

Review the process boundary
Distinguish whole-run, process-step, filling or packing, and finished-good boundaries. A result changes meaning when the start, end, or output-status boundary changes.

Review normal transformation
Consider evaporation, absorption, concentration or dilution, cooking, cooling, trimming, filtration, fermentation, and other expected changes. Ask what evidence explains a difference; do not assert a cause.

Interpret an owner result carefully
Review scope, units, output status, timing, postings, product and process mix, equipment, operator method, formulation, rework, holds, sampling, and data quality. Compare runs only when those bases are comparable.
