How the allocation works
The planner keeps user-entered cost allocation separate from customs, tariff, tax, and broker determinations.
Entered cost per quantity unit = entered total ÷ quantity received
Entered import-related add-ons = freight + entered duty amount + broker/entry fees + local transportation + insurance/other
Entered add-ons per quantity unit = entered import-related add-ons ÷ quantity received
What to include—and what this does not include
Use it for
Allocating the entered amounts in one imported ingredient group across a quantity unit you choose and use consistently.
Use another process for
HTS classification, duty-rate selection, customs valuation, legal duty/tax calculation, entry or invoice validation, exchange-rate selection, unentered costs, or broker/carrier advice.
Common questions
- Why is duty an entered amount instead of a rate?
- Duty treatment depends on product-specific classification and other facts. Enter an amount from your own record; this planner does not select or calculate a duty rate.
- Does this include every import cost?
- No. It totals only the amounts you enter. Review your own records and professional guidance for any unentered or event-specific costs.
